My 3 Dollar Window

One day I was driving back from church with my boyfriend and I saw these old windows lined up by the curb of a house we passed. I really wanted this long big window, but alas, it wouldn't fit into his car. Instead I grabbed a smaller one and we shoved it in the back seat.

I instantly thought of something I'd seen here as something I'd like to do with it.

Here's a picture I snapped with my phone when we got it. (I forgot to take one before I started decorating it so this will have to do)

I found some cute floral lining at Michael's for less than 3 dollars and decided it would be perfect for the window. After washing the window, I cut squares to fit the panes and stuck them on.

Then I crocheted little squares and strung them on a string across the entire window. (Someone gave me a bunch of yarn for free!)

All that's left is to starch the squares so they lie flat, but I was too excited to wait until then to post this!

And that is it! I'm pretty much in love with it. And the only thing I had to buy for this was the lining! In total, it cost me around 3 dollars. =] Tell me what you think!

  1. I love it! My mother rescued a window from the side of the road recently, too, and we hung it up over the sideboard in our dining room. The perfect shabby-chic decoration.
