Packing and Projects

Hello all!

I'm currently sitting amidst several packing boxes. End of the year packing is so sad. Next year will be my last year in college and then I'm off to face the world.

I just thought I would share with you what I'm working on!

I made this scene and I'm going to animate it for my After Effects video I am working on. I have a man I'm currently editing, and he'll be in the scene as well.

Also, I'm in love with my outfit today. It's entirely thrifted and it brings a bit of sunshine to this dreary and overcast day. It's a mustard sweater with a knee length white and grey striped skirt. =]

Good luck to anyone in college working on their finals! I am right there with you and will probably spend many late nights finishing all my work.

Why I Love My Curling Wand

Here's the sitch. I have crazy curly hair. Curlier than probably 90% of white people's. So I have a lot of problems when I straighten my hair and even more problems when I try to curl it with a curling iron. When I use a curling iron, it takes so long to curl because the iron doesn't hold much hair and the iron takes a while to heat the strand and curl it.

As an early birthday present, my mom sent me a curling wand and it has changed my life! Now curling my hair takes only about 7 minutes, as opposed to over 30.

Well here is my big hair all brushed out so that I can straighten the roots and curl the ends.

The curling wand is amazing. I'd definitely recommend getting one. You won't regret it.

Allison's Shower

This weekend one of my closest friends had her wedding shower. It was so perfectly decorated, the food was delicious, and the games were very entertaining and fun.

Allison is so creative and everything she does is special and unique. I've known her since my freshman year of college and the photography and design work she produces is inspiring. So it only makes sense that her party was beautiful. Her fiance is a great match for her and I wish them the very best!

Allison is graduating in a couple weeks and I can't wait to see where God takes her on her creative journey. She is very talented and I know she is going to do incredible things with those talents.

Below are some glimpses of her photography. If you want to see more from her or know more about what she does, you can visit her website Tremont & Faye or visit her Facebook Page.

A Photo Update

Still wrapped up in all things academic and work, but here are some photos I took of a couple of my friends getting engaged! You can see the full set on my photo blog.

I'm also doing a review on a curling wand I just got. I am amazed at how awesome it works on my super curly hair, so I have to share.

Anyways, here are the photos!

I'll be back with updates soon! Summer and freedom is almost here!

Book Covered Box DIY

So sorry I haven't updated in about a week! I've been editing like crazy on all my projects and haven't been able to slow down and put a DIY post together. I finally did, and I hope you will enjoy it!

I just got a box of shoes in the mail and instantly got an idea of what to do with the box when I opened them up.

Yes my shoes size is as the box says. In case any of you were feeling generous. =]

I took the pages out of the book and separated the sides of the books from the middle.

Then I glued the middles of the books together at the end of the box.

And the sides of the books I glued to the sides of the box.

And then it blends in with the rest of the books.

With a secret storage space in the middle!

Today has been just lovely, I got a lot of editing done, and the weather was amazing. We had a high of 88 degrees. The sky was a lovely shade of blue, the air smelled of blooming bliss, and the wind was very gentle.

I hope the weather where you are is wonderful too!

A Lovely Day for a Walk

By some miracle, I finished my homework for the day early and so we went for a walk on the paths behind campus. I was teaching him how to smile for the camera. He's silly, but oh so cute.

We decided that we needed more pictures of us. Lately our schedules are just so busy and my camera never seems to be around when we hang out, but today was the perfect opportunity for us to hang out and snap some pretty photos of us.

He's so good to me.

I really liked our colors today so I took a picture of them.

Then Jonny decided to pass out on the grass.

And Jonny was so excited to be holding a camera and taking pictures of me that he made me promise to post this one shot. He says, "It's so artsy." Haha

Anyways, I forgot to tell you about convention! It was really wonderful, we set up and tore down in record time and the director said this year's video/live production was the best year yet. He even added us all on facebook. I'm wearing my shirt from convention. The whole video crew decided to wear them today to be cool. Baaaaaaa

Finals is coming up. Oh dear! I can do this!

Hair Accessory Holder DIY

I have a hard time throwing things away. I'm not a hoarder, although I used to be. I have semi-annual purging parties for my belongings. I go through everything in the spring and in the fall and throw out, give away, recycle, or keep. Anyways, all that to say that I couldn't throw out my Oatmeal container because I thought I might be able to use it for something. And in the middle of Easter, I thought of what I could do with it. Strange I know, but hey, inspiration can hit you randomly and you jut got to run with it.

So I made a hair accessory holder out of my old Oatmeal container.

Side note, when using a hot glue gun, don't forget where you put it or you might end up stepping on it. Yeah, that just happened.

I cut a long rectangle out of one side about halfway around the container.

Then I measured out how much paper I needed to cover the whole thing and then cut out a mirrored rectangle.

And that's when I glued it and accidentally stepped on the glue gun. This weekend must've really tired me out!

On the top I can hang headbands, sunglasses and clips, and the bottom opening is like another layer to hang things. In the inside I can put my hair ties and stretchy headbands.

Anyways, hope this week treats you well!

Mixed-Media Monday: Stop Motion

So technically it's Tuesday, but I haven't gone to bed yet, soooo it's still Monday in my opinion! This week I did a little stop-motion experiment. I took a walk around campus with my camera and then recited a poem and put music to it. I've never done stop motion before. I wish it looked more smooth, but hey I'm just experimenting.

The poem is called A Summer Day by Lucy Maud Montgomery

This Easter weekend was so fun. I spent it with my boyfriend's family in Philly. His family is energetic and fun to be around. They had a big family extended family dinner after church, and then went to visit the grandparents for a while. This was the first Easter not spent with my family and I'm not going to lie, I missed them. Especially when my mother kept sending me photo updates of all my little cousins and everything.

Oh well. It's a part of growing up I suppose!

How was your Easter weekend?

Quick Shoe Fix

So here is my story. This morning I had an outfit picked out and I really wanted to wear this one pair of shoes. I took my shoes out of their plastic holder on the back of my door, and the rubber outline of the shoes had turned yellow some how! I ran around looking for bleach but didn't have any, so I decided to paint them!

I took a lot of pictures today for a stop motion video I'm making. Since I was in a picture mood I decided to take this photo of myself with the shadows from the window.

So I'm so excited for this weekend. Tomorrow I leave bright and early to drive down to the PennDel youth convention to run cameras with an awesome crew! This will be my second convention I've attended as part of the technical crew! Those guys are the greatest and I love working with them. I have just been getting so many opportunities since I've been at school and I'm so happy that God has given them to me. In high school I was really introverted and didn't put myself out there, but since I've been at college I've been taking more opportunities and going after things that I think I might like.

You never know until you try, and I'm so happy that I'm not going to leave this school with regret that I didn't do enough or take the opportunities that were given to me.

Hope your Easter weekends are simply wonderful!

Mixed-Media Monday: Typography Video

This video took over 30 hours to create. I'm learning After Effects and it is really hard to get used to. But for me, all programs are hard to get used to. Like Final Cut Pro for instance, I studied that program in and out for a year before I felt like I knew what I was doing. And then I got certified in it. =] I need to learn FCPX now. I plan on buying that soon since it is so cheap. It's on my list of programs to buy.

Anyways, this piece here is my first ever typography video. I decided I'm making an entirely new one soon because I need to get better! Hopefully each one will get better and better as I learn how to use cameras in AE and other little tidbits.

The audio is a sketch done by Victor Borge called "Phonetic Punctuation." I edited the audio slightly because there were too many claps and pauses and so forth.

I'd love some feedback, but please only helpful criticism.

Here's a little peek at what I was wearing today. Maxi dress and TOMS.
